Steps Of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Steps Of  Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

How To Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) For Adult

The Main Steps are:

-Airway-clear obstructed airways(mouth)
-Circulation -- start chest compressions
-Breathing -- perform mouth-to-mouth or mouth-to-nose breathing

1.First ,shake and check whether the person is conscious or unconscious. Then check his pulse rate. For detail on how to check pulse rate, click here.Carotid pulse will be more better. Then place him in supine position.

2.Clear the airway.Clear any obstruction in the mouth.Tilt the head by pushing forehead down and chin upwards. This step prevent the tongue to rolled back into the track against epiglottis and block the airway.

3.Chest compression. This should be done at sternum ,between both nipple.Remember, don't do it at the ribs because it can cause fracture of the rib bone.Compress about deep of 5cm(2inch).This is because the heart located 5cm inwards from the skin.Do it about 15 -30 times then give mouth to mouth breathing.

4.You can give mouth to mouth breathing or mouth to nose breathing. In case mouth to mouth breathing ,you first should close the nostril of nose with your finger and tilt the head upwards to open the epiglottis .Then give a gentle air into mouth turn to the chest area to see the movement of chest. If chest not moving, then your air did'n get into the lungs.

5.At the same time while looking at chest, place your ears at the persons mouth to hear the sound of air .Then continue with  chest compression,.Don't blow a very strong air because this can hurt the lungs.

6.Repeat  about 5 cycles of 30 compressions and 2 rescue breaths for about two to four  minutes.

7. If an AED(automated external defibrillator) is available in the immediate area, use it as soon as possible to jump-start the victim's heart.

8.If the person is conscious, place him in recovery position.

9.Before start all this, ask someone near by to call 911.

How To Perform  Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) For Babies

The Main Steps are:

1.If a baby is unconscious, check her mouth for any items blocking her airwayand  use your little finger to clear the blockage from her mouth.

2.Check for breathing by  listen for the sound of the breath or  for movements of the chest.Fill your cheeks with air .

3.If baby is not breathing, place the baby on a flat surface, tilt her head back very slightly, lift her chin to bring the tongue away from the back of the throat, opening her airway. Take a breath and seal her mouth and nose with your mouth. Blow gently and steadily for about one second. Watch for the rise and fall of the chest; take another breath and repeat the sequence.

3.Locate a position in centre of the chest.Position two fingers in the centre of baby’s chest and give 30 compressions at a rate of approximately 100 per minute. Each compression should depress the chest by about one third. For every 30 compressions, 2 Rescue Breaths need to follow.Continue resuscitation (30 compressions to 2 rescue breath) without stopping until help arrives.Remember, for child and babies, compression should be gentle or use fingers, not palm.

4.If baby is breathing, place her in the recovery position  and check her regularly for continued signs of life until the ambulance arrives.

How To Check Pulse Rate

How To Check Pulse Rate?
Pulse  is caused by the arteries due to pumpingof  the blood. The pulse rate is an indication that the heart is working  and pulse rate will be same as heart rate.Pulse can be taken at the wrist( radial pulse ) ,neck(carotid pulse ) and inguinal ligament(femoral),popliteal pulse and etc. However the main site are radial and carotid.

Radial Pulse
1.Place your first 3 fingers (pointer+middle+ring) just below the crease at the base of the thumb and press until you can feel the radial pulse. If necessary, move fingers around until you feel the pulse. Dont use your thumb to find your pulse because your thumb also has a pulse and this can intervene with the actual results.

2.Once you have identified the radial artery, you will need a clock or stop watch to monitor the pulse rate.

3.Start the clock and count the pulses for sixty seconds. Then calculate the pulse rate for 60seconds.Can be done at both side of hand.

Carotid Pulse
1.Locate where the carotid pulsation feel the most.It can be identify at the point formed by anterior   surface of SCM muscle ,and the horizontal line from superior border of thyroid cartilage to SCM muscle.Carotid arteries present on  both the right and left side. But use either one side at a time to prevent the person from fainting.

2. Once you have identified the carotid artery, you will need a clock or stop watch to monitor the pulse rate. Take your middle and index finger and touch the sides of your neck to feel the pulse.

3.Start the clock and count the pulses for sixty seconds. Dont use your thumb to find your pulse because your thumb also has a pulse and this can intervene with the actual results. Then calculate the pulse rate for 60seconds..Can be done at both side of neck.

Tips How to Calculate the Rate:

-Use the pads of three fingers for radial pulse

-Use two fingers, preferably your index and middle finger for  the carotid pulse.

-For counting pulse rate in wards, don't straightly go for the pulse rate once the patient. They might be nervous and this causes high pulse rate.So the reading will not be the actual state of the patient.

-Usually radial artery is used for detect the pulse rate. When person radial artery is not detectable, then can go for carotid pulse. If carotid pulse is also absent, then the person is death .

-During emergency situation ,you cannot wait for 60 second and wasting your time.So just use 30second and multiply the rate you get by 2.
Example:
30sec=36 times

36times x 2= 72 times.

So the pulse rate is 72/min.

But remember, you can'y use 30 second count in case of collapsing or irregular pulse.Go for 60 second count twice.

Normal Counting:
60sec=80 times

So the pulse rate is 80/min.

Pulse Rates:

-For children under age 18, normal heart rate is 70-100 beats per minute.
-For adults, normal heart rate is 60-100 beats per minute.
-For someone very physically fit - 40 to 60 beats per minute.
-For a child 1 & under- 100 to 160  beats per minute.

The healthy range is 72 beats/min.

The rate sometimes will be varies according to person.Just keep in mind, there will be problem to a person when the pulse is less than 50 or high than 100/min.

The pulse and heart beat will getting high as the size of person gets small. That's why female and children pulse rate is higher than male.

Haunted Place In Malaysia -Karak Highway

Karak Highway

Karak Highway also known as The Kuala Lumpur – Karak Expressway or Karak Expressway  (Lebuhraya Kuala Lumpur-Karak, Lebuhraya Karak)  is a 60 km controlled-access highway or motorway in Malaysia connecting the capital city of Kuala Lumpur to the town of Karak in Pahang. The highway was built in the 1970s, originally intended as an alternative route from Gombak to Bentong in Pahang  using the Federal route. It incorporates a twin tunnel at Genting Sempah, near one of Malaysia's famous highland resorts, Genting Highlands. Originally, the highway was used to be a two-lane toll highway before being upgraded to a full expressway in 1997.Like other highland roads and highways, Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway faces risks of landslides especially during rainy season. Therefore, motorists are advised not to use any highland routes including Karak Expressway during heavy rain to avoid risks of landslides.

Other than its geological factor,The Karak highway was  known for its many haunting stories, told by the many eyewitnesses who drove on the highway. There are a lot of scary rumors that Karak Highway  haunted. Some people claim that it's because there's a lot of accidents and deaths. Others believe that the grounds on which Karak highway was built upon was said to be the burial grounds for the aborigines ( Orang Asli )  which  was already haunted to begin with. All this myths causes Karak Highway became  a fearful area for motorists especially during the night due to the many stories shared by motorists who have experienced some of the hauntings while travelling along the highway. So most motorists will avoid this route or travel here in the day time. This causes the Expressway look empty and scary during night time. Many believe that if someone travel here just as a challenge even after they know well about this place, then they definitely face the consequences .

The Most Famous Stories on Karak Highway:

The Yellow Volkswagen
There were reported sightings of a yellow volkswagen on the highway. It could be appearing from nowhere and when we look into the car, no driver was spotted in the car.The yellow car could be driving slowly on the right lane, thus making others try to overtake it. When you overtake it, you would realize that there is no driver in it.Most motorists have been warned to not overtake the car or it will keep appearing in front of you.Other instances could be the car would try to speed up once it had been overtaken by you and then disappear just like that out of your sight.May be someone died while racing I guess.

Sighting of a small boy

A little boy had been spotted on the highway. Many believe  that the boy and his mother was involved in one of the many accidents that took place on the highway and both were killed. Their bodies could have been thrown into different locations, separating the mother from her son and thus the little boy's restless spirit is constantly looking for his motherHe could appear at the side of the road, and seemed like he is looking for something  and try to stop your car.The next thing you know, he could be appearing next to the car and running along it and would be asking the same question over and over again, "Have you seen my mother?"Will you answer him???

Headless Husband
It was late at night when a young couple and their baby was traveling in a car along the Karak Highway. They were trying to get home, like the rest of the other Malaysians because it was nearing festive season. And like the many other Malaysians, they choose to travel at night to avoid the traffic jam and also the heat of the sun when noon gets in the way.As they were traveling along the lonely stretch of Karak Highway, suddenly, the car gave a sudden jerk and started making weird noises. The husband was fairly surprised because he remembered to check the car before traveling long distance to ensure the safety of his family. Soon, they had no choice but to stop by the roadside. The husband got out of the car to check the car engine while his wife and baby was waiting in the car. After a few minutes, he came back and reported that he could not see anything wrong and tried starting the car again. However, the car just would not budge. At loss, the husband made a difficult decision to either wait until another car comes along or walk to the nearest phone booth.

Not wanting to leave his family behind, they waited. After some 20 minutes or so, the highway remained quiet. The husband wondered why was there such calamity on the highway when festive celebrations are just around the corner. Perhaps it was due to the late night, he thought to himself. After what seemed like eternity, the husband decided to take the second option.
Advising his wife to lock the doors and take care, he left them behind with a heavy heart. His wife, on the other hand, watched her husband walk away with worries on her mind. She prayed hard that someone would eventually notice their stalled car and offer help. She was also worried that accidents might happen.Hours passed by and soon she started getting even more worried. She was worried something might happen to her husband.Suddenly she saw flashes of blue and red lights. It was coming from a patrol car. Through the rear view mirror she could see a policeman getting out of the car and towards her vehicle. They asked her to step out of the vehicle quietly, and don't look around while she did so.As she reached the police car, she turned back out of curiosity, and it was then she saw the most horrifying sight, her husband was headless on the top of the car, and there was a creature which was feasting on him.

Sighting of Pontianak
There have been  sightings of a pontianak flying on the highway at night. The pontianak is believed to be a woman who had died of childbirth and harbors immense hatred and anger. She preys on men and is said to tear their organs apart. Pontianak could come in the form of a beautiful young woman in white to seduce the men. Some motorists claimed to have seen a beautiful woman on the highway who could sometimes make heads turn  and she could be by the side of the road, asking for a lift.

No one really knows whether it involves a ghost, or an actual murderer.Whatever it is,when you are traveling along Karak highway, don't stop for any chance. The best don't travel alone or at night.
Lastly,do you have the guts to try travel here to find out for yourself??

What is the Scariest Ghost on Earth

Ghost of Mae Nak Phra Khanong

Mae Nak is a beautiful young woman, who lived by thePhra Khanong canal in Bangkok with  her husband, Mak.
With Nak pregnant, Mak went for war and was severely injured. While he was being nursed in central Bangkok, both Nak and the child she was carrying died during childbirth. When Mak eventually returns home, however, he was cast under a spell and found his loving wife and his new child waiting for him like nothing was wrong. Neighbors who tried to tell Mak of the death of his wife and to warn him that he was living with ghost, met with grisly ends.

One day, while Nak was preparing nam phrik, she dropped a lime down to the cellar. In her haste, she extended her arm to pick the lemon from the upper floor through the floor's hole, not knowing that Mak saw the whole event. Terrified, he realized she was a ghost, and tried to find a way to flee without alerting her.
At night, Mak lied to Nak and said he had to go downstairs to urinate. He then broke a little hole in an earthen jar which was filled with water, so that Nak would think that he was urinating, and ran away into the night.

After discovering her husband had left, Nak pursued him. Mak saw his wife's ghost and concealed himself behind a Blumea balsamifera bush.According to Thai folklore, ghosts are afraid of the sticky Blumea leaves. Mak then ran from there to the temple of Wat Mahabut, where Nak could not enter, as it was a holy area.

In grief and despair Nak terrorized the people of Phra Khanong, venting her anger towards them for helping Mak to leave her. Eventually, Nak's ghost was bound by a powerful exorcist. After confining her within an earthen jar, he threw it into the canal.

There are several versions of the stories how Mae Nak disturb people around the place. However  Mae Nak's story is popular because her true love and devotion for Mak inspires many people.
There is a shrine dedicated to Mae Nak at Wat Mahabut. In 1997 the shrine relocated to nearby Suan Luang district.
